Keystone Berkelet,California

Album by Roy Buchanan ‧ 1981

By late 1981, Roy Buchanan had grown frustrated with major-label restrictions and lack of creative control, prompting him to temporarily stop recording studio albums. Instead, he focused his energy on raw, high-intensity live performances like the one at the Keystone.

Armed with his trusty 1953 Fender Telecaster ("Nancy"), his 1981 tour stops showcased his signature uncompromised technique—including volume swells, pinch harmonics, and searing emotional phrasing.
