Live in Tokyo 1979

Live in Tokyo 1979 is a live archival album by legendary soul singer Marvin Gaye, officially hit retail markets as a physical CD release in January 2025.

The album captures Marvin Gaye's performance at the iconic Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on November 13, 1979. This historic concert was part of his very first tour of Japan.

Musically, the performance captures Gaye during a profound transitional period. It was recorded roughly a year after the release of his intensely raw, double-album divorce chronicle Here, My Dear (1978) and shortly before his final Motown studio project, In Our Lifetime (1981). The performance originally reached the public via an NHK Radio broadcast in Japan.
