Poindexter

Poindexter is the second independent mixtape by Donald Glover under his stage name Childish Gambino, self-released as a free digital download on September 17, 2009.

Coincidentally, the mixtape dropped the exact same day that Glover's breakthrough comedy series, Community, premiered on NBC. Musically, Poindexter cemented his early "nerdcore" hip-hop, pop-rap, and contemporary R&B style, heavily characterized by a distinctively high-pitched delivery and humorous, self-deprecating lyrics. Glover has noted that the project received significant pushback from early listeners who questioned his high vocals and references to 30 Rock creator Tina Fey (whom he previously wrote for).
