Red
Red (2012) is the fourth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was released on October 22, 2012, through Big Machine Records. Inspired by a breakup that left behind emotional tumult, Swift framed Red as a breakup album that chronicles the aftermath of a failed relationship.
On Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, Red spent 16 weeks at number one and was the year-end number-one album of both 2012 and 2013. It was the second-best-selling album of 2012 in the United States with 3.11 million copies sold after two months of sales, and surpassed 3.84 million copies after one year of release. The album had sold 4.582 million US copies as of January 2024,[124] and it was certified eight-times platinum for surpassing eight million album-equivalent units by the Recording Industry Association of America in October 2025.
